Calcium peroxide has begun to be used on a large scale in aquaculture, wastewater treatment, mineral processing, cigarette production, rice planting, pig farming, and red tide control, with good results. Below is a brief introduction to some common uses and dosages of calcium peroxide.
1. Increased Yield During Rice Planting:
Coating rice seeds with calcium peroxide, herbicides, and gypsum (typically 4 kg of CaO2 for 24 kg of rice seeds) can increase yield by 10% and reduce costs by 50%.
2. Reduced Carbon Monoxide Production in Cigarettes:
Adding 0.5%–10% CaO2 to the production process can significantly reduce harmful CO (carbon monoxide) emissions from lit cigarettes. At a smoking rate of 50 ml/s, the amount of CO emitted by CaO2 is significantly reduced to 2700 mg/kg, compared to 5000 mg/kg for cigarettes without added CaO2.
3. Effective Removal of Cyanide and Heavy Metals.
It can effectively detoxify wastewater, which typically contains cyanide and cyanide complexes, heavy metals, and sulfides.
4. Increasing the lean meat ratio in pig farming:
Calcium peroxide can be administered orally to pigs. Generally, the dosage of CaO2 is 0.02% to 1.3% of the total feed. This significantly improves the lean meat ratio and the quality of pork after slaughter.
5. A nemesis of red tides:
Calcium peroxide can help remove red tides from oceans or lakes. Adding 100mg-500mg of CaO2 per liter of water can remove red tides within 24 hours.
