MCA flame retardant, short for melamine cyanurate, is characterized by low cost, excellent electrical properties, good mechanical properties, and superior coloring properties. It can be compounded with various inorganic flame retardants such as aluminum hypophosphite, diethylaluminum hypophosphite, and aluminum hydroxide to achieve synergistic flame retardant effects. MCA flame retardant is particularly suitable for silicone rubber, EVA heat shrink tubing, unreinforced PA6/66, thermoplastic elastomers, and low-smoke halogen-free cable materials. Its flame retardant mechanism involves sublimation endothermic reaction and gas-phase flame retardancy.

II. Mechanism of Flame Retardant Action
The flame retardancy of nylon by MCA flame retardant is a relatively complex process, involving sublimation endothermic reaction and accelerated dripping. Simultaneously, it alters the thermo-oxidative degradation process of nylon, causing PA6/66 to rapidly carbonize and form a dense, foamed carbon layer covering the nylon PA6/66 surface, blocking contact with oxygen and the escape of combustible gases. The decomposed non-combustible gases cause the material to expand, forming an expanded layer that significantly reduces thermal conductivity, promoting self-extinguishing upon removal of the flame.
III. Application Examples
Unreinforced PA6 (1.5-3.0mm V-0): 10-14%
Mineral-filled PA66 (1.5-3.0mm V-2): 13-15%
10%-15% Glass fiber reinforced (1.5-3.0mm V-2): 11-16%
IV. Storage and Transportation
20-25kg/bag, inner plastic and outer woven fabric. It is recommended to store in a cool, dry, and ventilated place, with sealed packaging to prevent moisture absorption.
MCA flame retardant exhibits good compatibility with PA6/66, a high decomposition temperature, low water solubility, and diverse formulation options. It possesses excellent endothermic charring properties, achieving a V-0 flame retardant effect. MCA flame retardant demonstrates good flame retardant performance in filler-free PA, unsaturated polyester, polyurethane, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyacetal, PVC, and acrylic emulsions. The formulation is a key factor in successful flame retardation. MCA exhibits good thermal stability, low toxicity, and excellent migration properties. Due to the similarity of MCA's bonding properties to PA6/66, it shows good compatibility with PA6/66, and no precipitation or blooming occurs during the flame retardant process.
